Temperature Sensors & Thermostats FOR MARINE & INDUSTRY BY WIESLOCH MARINE & INDUSTRIES BV

At Wiesloch Marine & Industries BV, we supply a wide range of temperature sensors and thermostats designed for use in marine environments and demanding industrial systems. Whether you’re working with heavy fuel oil conditioning systems, thermal oil installations, or engine monitoring circuits, we can support you with reliable, proven temperature solutions from brands like Jumo, Danfoss, and others.

Our product range includes resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) such as PT100 sensors, as well as thermocouples and mechanical or electronic thermostats like the well-known Jumo ATH series. These devices are available in various probe lengths, mounting types, and signal outputs, including 2-wire PT100 and 4–20 mA transmitters. We also offer models with integrated microswitches for direct control of pumps or valves, making them suitable for use as temperature limiters (TB), safety temperature monitors (STW), or control thermostats (TR) in critical shipboard systems.

All our temperature sensors and thermostats are selected for their resistance to vibration, high ambient temperatures, and long-term reliability. We frequently supply these units for boilers, pre-heaters, separators, and thermal oil systems on board ships and in industrial heating plants. Many models are available with DNV, GL, or CE approvals and are compatible with legacy systems or programmable controllers.

PT100 Temperature Sensors

PT100 sensors are widely used in marine and industrial systems for accurate and reliable temperature measurement. These resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) operate based on the predictable change in electrical resistance of a platinum element (typically 100 ohms at 0 °C). At Wiesloch Marine & Industries BV, we supply a variety of PT100 sensors, with a focus on high-quality models from Jumo and Danfoss, suitable for use in heating systems, engines, and fuel conditioning units.

We frequently deliver Jumo PT100 sensors, which are available in both 2-wire and 3-wire versions. These sensors are designed for precise temperature monitoring in compact spaces and are available with standard connection threads such as G½ or M18x1.5. Many Jumo models feature a vibration-resistant design, making them ideal for use in marine engine rooms, separator systems, and thermal oil circuits. Sensors with built-in transmitters are available for applications requiring a 4–20 mA output signal.

We also stock and supply Danfoss PT100 sensors, such as the MBT 5252 and MBT 3270 series. These robust sensors are often used in diesel engine monitoring, tank temperature control, and hot water systems. Danfoss models are known for their compact stainless-steel design, high mechanical stability, and flexible output options. Both passive PT100 and transmitter-equipped variants are available, with configurations suitable for both OEM installations and direct replacements.

Thermocouples

Thermocouples are a durable and cost-effective solution for temperature measurement in high-temperature and high-vibration environments. They operate based on the thermoelectric effect, using two dissimilar metals joined at the tip to produce a voltage that correlates with temperature. At Wiesloch Marine & Industries BV, we supply a range of K-type and J-type thermocouples suitable for use in marine systems, industrial boilers, and thermal oil installations.

Compared to PT100 sensors, thermocouples are often preferred in applications where faster response times and higher temperature ranges are required. This makes them particularly suitable for use in exhaust gas measurement, burner control, and thermal fluid monitoring in both shipboard and land-based installations.

Our thermocouples are available with metal sheaths, ceramic insulation, or mineral-insulated cables (MI cable) for high mechanical resistance. Connection types include standard 2-wire open ends, mini plug connectors, and DIN connectors. Mounting options include threaded fittings such as G½ and M18×1.5, compression fittings, and flanged designs for easy integration into existing systems.

Thermostats

Mechanical thermostats are essential for safety and control in marine and industrial heating systems. Unlike temperature sensors, which only measure, these devices also switch electrical circuits when a preset temperature is reached. At Wiesloch Marine & Industries BV, we primarily supply mechanical thermostats from the Jumo ATH series, known for their robust design, high reliability, and wide approval base for marine use.

The ATH thermostats function using a liquid- or gas-filled sensing system with a microswitch that opens or closes depending on the temperature. Depending on the variant, they can be configured as:

  • Temperature controllers (TR)
  • Temperature monitors (TW)
  • Temperature limiters (TB)
  • Safety temperature limiters (STB)
  • Safety temperature monitors (STW)

They are frequently used to control pumps, heaters, or emergency shutdown systems in thermal oil, HFO, and MGO lines. All Jumo ATH models are available in DIN-compliant designs and many variants carry CE and DNV approvals.

Model Description Switch Function Sensor Type Temperature Range Mounting Type Notes
ATH-1 Compact thermostat with microswitch Single-pole changeover Liquid-filled capillary 0...400 °C (varies) Immersion tube or screw-in pocket Older model, still in use
